Revision 2 of 3 — content: give every hand a Writing section pointing at the hub

Lat. IIILong. IX

The Central Human language. This note currently carries only the writing system; the naming framework has not been written.

Writing

Humans took their hand from their halfling and gnome neighbours. Full account in One Root, Five Hands.

  • [canon] Latinized Thaana: Latin-leaning letterforms with fewer accents.
  • [proposed] Humans promoted the small folk's vowel marks back into full vowel letters and write left to right. The precedent is real: the Greeks turned spare Phoenician consonant signs into vowels.
  • [proposed] A few unmistakably Thaana-derived consonant shapes are kept, so Common does not read as English in a funny font.
  • [open] The hand is shared by every human language, not only Vardic. It is recorded here because the other human notes are empty.
